ISLAMABAD: In the first quarter of the current financial year 2007-08, there has been an increase of 255 percent in the export of jewellery. According to a report from July to September, 2007 gold jewellery worth over 2.5 crore dollars have been exported to various countries. During the same period last year the jewellery exports were valued at more than 57 lakh dollars. In the first quarter of this year jewellery worth over 1.47 crore dollars were exported to different countries. However, in the month of September alone, there has been of 393 percent raise in the jewellery exports.
According to the economic experts, the prices of jewellery in Pakistan are far less as compared to the international market. Therefore, it has resulted in the increase in the exports of Pakistani jewellery and the exporters have earned more benefits by exports of jewellery.
