KARACHI : During the first quarter of the current financial year-2007-08, there has been 201 percent increase in the export of Pakistani gems. According to a report compiled by the concerned government of Pakistan department, in the above–mentioned period 46 tons gems worth over 39 lakh dollars were exported. In the previous financial year 2006-07 period, 27 tons gems valued at over 13 lakh dollars were exported. The per ton value of gems was 48 dollar during the last financial year and in this financial year, per ton lavue of gems has risen to 85 dollars.
