Gold may help boost women job opportunities

KARACHI Nov 06, 2006: Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism and Social Welfare Rauf Siddiqui has said that gold could help boost employment level and conditions among women.

Speaking after launching the Women's Gold and Gems Exhibition, he stressed that focusing on increasing export level would bring a number of benefits to the industry in particular and Pakistan in general.
Pakistan is keen to increase the expert of gold jewellery along with gems in order to promote the country's unique culture and style as well as providing new opportunities to women, he added.

Rauf Siddiqui also said, “it is expected that the new initiatives will include greater promotion of the country's high level of craftsmanship and design and will provide ideal opportunities to the female entrepreneurs.”
The Women's Gold and Gems Exhibition was organized for the first time in a decade and around 30 local jewellers have set up their stalls.
